Childrens Wall Hangings

Decorating and how long do you stand there looking inside and not know where to begin?  When we think of things to put in a child's room we may want to look at the furniture and decide if we want to paint or put up a mural or even see if sticks or decals are a nice fit for the room.   One other option that is usually over looked is children's wall hangings.  This is something that can easily be made and can be incorporated into the decor.  For example, let's say you were decorating for a child that was 7 or 9 and you had a quilt from when they were baby.  Now that they are much older and the quilt is pretty frayed but there is one good size block that can be salvaged so you cut it out and hem a pocket for a rod so you can attach cord to hang it from the wall.  You may have started a corner of memories where this piece would go very nicely in the room.  You do not have the heart to throw these things out and they make great conversations pieces.

Other things that remind you of wall hangings and would include non-traditional pieces of wall art are children's mural banners, children's hand painted banners and other hand painted wall hangings.  They make great decorations in any room and when you use wall hangings you have creations that they have made in the past and they are one of a kind.  It is something that they can save for when they go off to college or get married and have their own children.  You can make them any color, bright or frilly, dark or full of trucks depending on their personalities and your imagination. 

One of the gifts that are truly unusual and neat to give back when they grow up is when they were baby's foot prints or hand prints and place them in between baby pictures and add to them as they get older.  Almost as if someone had made a full size quilt but you keep it smaller about twelve blocks and hang it in the memories area.  There are so many things you can do to make wall hangs if you are creative and have the time to think about it and about what the theme is for the child this year or for the decor and furnishings that have been bought for the room now that they are older.
